A Gift for the Givers

On this 4th of July weekend, I want to share a beautiful story an old friend posted on his Facebook feed. Although the subject is sad, it’s an uplifting tale of “The Great American Small Town.” The thing about the Great American Small Town, is that even in the midst of metropolis, we all live in that small town. We have our family and friends, and though we don’t always agree, we look out for each other. That may not seem the case in America these days, when powerful voices stoke the division fires and work hard to undermine our faith in our country and fellow Americans. I hear a lot of chatter lately about not celebrating the 4th and maybe even leaving the country because of politics. But look around at your friends and neighbors, all the good people you’ve encountered along the way. That’s America. God bless us all.

Sean Dietrich’s story about Mendon led me to his Sean of the South podcast, an infectious combination of singing, strumming, and story telling. Give it a listen, I think you’ll enjoy. You’ll learn lessons like “you can figure out how to play anything if you want it bad enough.”

For our Tuesday meeting, we’ll be talking about benefits, not features. When you’re out meeting prospective clients and referral partners, do you emphasize features? Benefits? Both?
