Biographical Sketch
Sergeant First Class Danny Hellmann is serving on the Black Team as a Demonstration Parachutist.
Danny enlisted in 2005. He attended Basic training and AIT at Ft. Benning, Ga. Throughout his career, duty stations have included: Caserma Ederle Italy, Hunter Army Airfield, Ft. Benning and Miami where he served as an Airborne Ranger (11B). SFC Hellmann was selected to work as a Demonstration Parachutist. This is his first year on the team.
SFC Hellmann has served 8 tours in Afghanistan. He has been awarded the Order of Saint Maurice, Bronze Star Medal with Valor, Purple Heart (2), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal w/V device, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Ribbon(4), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with four Campaign Stars, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon(3), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Combat Infantryman Badge, Master Rated Parachutist Badge and Military Freefall Badge and Ranger Tab.
SFC Hellmann has also earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Strategic Studies and Defense Analysis.
Since learning how to skydive in 2008, he has logged over 580 free fall parachute jumps. In his free time he enjoys: Running, Olympic Weight Lifting, Rock Climbing, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
