At 7 in the Morning, We All Need a Jump Start

Robb Armstrong’s been drawing since the age of 3, starting with Charlie Brown, who he spent the next three years perfecting. He insists his brother was the true artist, but Robb’s mom believed in Robb like nobody’s business. She encouraged him through the inevitable twists and turns of being so young and talented. He stuck with it, he couldn’t help himself. He learned to be persistent as hell, and by the time he was 27, he was already a nationally syndicated cartoonist. Along with that original Peanuts influence, I see a bit of Calvin and Hobbes, and the Flintstones. His characters have heart, and they’ll warm yours. Years later, he’s going stronger than ever. He’s funny, wise, a little bit of a smart aleck. Great speaker. Inspiring. Funny. Catch him live, sometime, or watch his new show, Jump Start, based on the strip.
