How Do You Get to The Ice House?

I had a dream last night it was Showcase time. Everyone else was up on stage singing Happy Birthday, but not to me, even though it’s my birthday this month. Next, it was my turn to do my five minute set. I forgot all my lines, so I launched into one of my train wrecks, covering all sorts of topics, up to and including Gd. I was getting lots of laughs, but afterwards, Corey came up and scolded me for straying from script. I don’t know if he’d actually do that, but I think he would. He’s been hammering me to trust the process and stick to the material we agreed upon. When it was time to practice my bit in class, I taunted Corey with the notion that he had no idea what I was about to say. But he knew. Of course I stuck mostly to script, with a few small strays I’ll have to ditch. It’s a five minute set, but I’ve got seven minutes worth of material. Something’s got to give.

We’ve got several new people in class, some of whom have never done comedy before (as if I’m some sort of seasoned veteran!). Everybody’s funny. We’re having a ball, and I hope you’ll come see us on August 6. When you’re done reading and looking at the pretty pictures, come on over to buy some tickets.
